The optics on any of the 50mm is nowhere near that of the 70-200mm II.

A useful all round lens, but also get a prime 50mm for even better optics and which is suitable for low light conditions.

A business partner of mine has been ecstatic about this lens for the past couple of weeks. Like you, she has been saving for this purchase and cannot wait until it comes out. She is in real estate and is also a photographer. Besides her photography, she uses her cameras on many of her properties to capture everything in great clarity.
