I am using SmugMug.com to host all of my photos. I have a personal account as well as a professional account. SmugMug is awesome. There are tons of features and depending on what you need they have accounts ranging from a standard account for $39.95/year up to a professional account for $149.95/year.
Even if you are not a pro, I highly recommend SumgMug. Your photos are safe. They are stored in several different location across the US. They allow you unlimited storage and unlimited bandwidth. They have several tools that make it easy to share photos on social networking site or via email. SmugMug customer service is second to none.
Now the best part, use my email address and they will take $5 off your first year’s fee. When signing up just the email address matt@mattmcguire.com and they will apply the discount.
I must admit that the site looks good and the galleries are great. In Flickr I’ve seen many comments together with the pictures, equipment information, etc. I suppose that this is possible with Smugmug too? Not clear from the samples on the sample pages, though.

I see you are familiar with flickr, this is what I use and it seems to be the world leader in photo sharing. The community is fantastic and the desktop uploader seems to work faultlessly, why would you use another provider?

Thanks for the offer Matt. You are so generous
Thats literally writing off $5. Unbelievable. I knew about smug mug’s existence, but have never tried it. I guess this as a chance to do it. Will keep you posted. Thanks again for the generosity. Lastly, I wanted to ask one thing. How many people can signup using your email referral. Is it $5 unlimited discounts? Just curious.

All I can say is, smugmug is a photographer friendly website. Newbie or pro. The site looks cool and the features are all awesome. I’m not a photographer but I want to be someday.

Personally, I’ve never really like the layout of smugmug – at least for hosting a professional photographer’s images for ordering prints etc. Given what you have here, I’ll have to check it out again.
Thanks.

I’ve never used SmugMug before. Is that site any good?

Thanks for the heads up…….I am going to have to check out what they have to offer and possibly sign up…….I have just been using a run of the mill online storage site…..

Nice coupon. What I’ve never used smugmug.com. What is the difference between the standard and professional account if they offer unlimited storage for each? Is there really much reason at all to upgrade?

This is a good tip, I am studying some cheaper options, but also SmugMug seems a great option.

Thanks for sharing this. I have never used it. Which camera is the best for photography? I have heard that Nikon is the best option.

Nice offer, thanks. Is it still available ?

I really appreciate SmugMug for the reasons of reliability and safety. I have used a number of photo sharing sites but finding a reliable source is really very hard. Smugmug seems to be promising, I will give it a try.
Thanks for sharing nice information.

Thanks Matt. I hadn’t heard of Smugmug but at those prices (plus the discount) I’m sold! I’ve been messing around with external hard drives but this seems like a much better solution. The possibility of a fire in the studio always scared me :-/
