Dofollow, CommentLuv, and KeywordLuv
I installed a few new feature on MattMcGuire.com. This blog is now Dofollow, CommentLuv, and KeywordLuv enabled. Here is soem information on these features.
DoFollow – Now links in comments are dofollow, really they are no longer nofollow. This simply means search engines will see the link and give the site your linking to a little credit which will help that site’s search engine ranking.
CommentLuv – This feature will automatically your your site when commenting and pull in your last blog post. It will give your site some credit without the need for you to try and spam this site.
KeywordLuv – This will allow the link back to your site have appropriate keywords in it. Now you can post your name as something like Matt@Sacramento Photography and the link to your site will look like this Matt from Sacramento Photography
All of these new features are designed to encourage and reward people for making comments here. I enjoy the interactions and it also helps the site with more content. It also has the risk of increasing spam. So just be aware that I only approve comments that are relevant to the post you are commenting on. Outright spam as well as off topic posts will simply be deleted. Have fun and comment away.

Matt,
These plugins are really needed for the hour. Webmasters install them on their blog but spammers really take advantage of it. I have it in my blog as well, but this will definitely increase the moderation time. But in my personal opinion its highly helpful.

I am using akismet right now. Hopefully I can manage the spam. No comments get posted without approval so I know they will not get through, but I don’t want to spend a great deal of time managing them.

CommentLuv is such a great plugin. I’ve written a few posts about it on my site explaining the importance of registering your sites so you can select up to 10 of your latest blog posts from the drop-down menu that appears next to your link.
Andy Bailey (the plugin creator) has added quite a new features of late, including the option to add additional URLs (for a small fee).
Good luck with the plugins,
Karl

I know I get some additional outright SPAM and some just off topic comments. Things like “Great Post” and “Keep up the good work”. Those types of comments get deleted. If I can’t tell that you read my post I will not allow your comment to be posted.

I appreciate the do follow movement as it should increase the number of quality comments. Most spammers are easy to spot anyway, so deleting their comments will be easy. I would give my nod to Akismet for the best spam catcher.

I agree that this plugin is a great booster for blogs. for the point of view of the blog owner altough is not a set and forget. If ppl love their blogs they should really take care of them on a daily basis in order to don’t stack up on spam and crap posts. on the point of the visitor, this is a great motivator to encourage ppl to make a decent post on any specific subject, contributing this way to enrich the blog content. so it is a win win scenario in my POV.
thank you for sharing
all the best

I am a major supporter of the Do Follow CommentLuv KeywordLuv community. I found this post via the KeywordLuv page at Blog Catalog and invite you and anyone else in our community to visit the post I’ll feature in CommentLuv and leave a link to all blogs that fit that criterion whether yours or others.
Akismet may flag comments with multple links in them as spam but I WILL rescue them so do please leave ALL of the blogs that are dofollow and using CommentLuv and KeywordLuv along with your preferred anchor text.
You will notice that I often provide multiple links using different anchor text for quality bloggers so don’t be shy. Find out how to select anchor text.

Great idea and you are correct it does bring spam. I got over 200 comments on one of my sites. I too love Sacramento or the Sacramento area, rather, but it my site was not about Sacramento. It was about lawyers, penney stocks, and class action lawsuits and other legal stuff. It invited 3 real comments and over 200 about drugs and money making schemes. Hope you are more successful and get some benefit in your Sacramento photo business, especially in this tough economy.

Marie from http://vintage-poster.org says:
As others are saying thank you for installing keywordluv. I agree that it is very useful to bringing readers to a blog and rewarding them….it is a nice way to say Thank you and that is appreciated.
Does it produce Spam problems. There will always be people who take advantage of things but by and large it does attract readers and this is an advantage for the blogger.
I think it is a plug in worth having. My feeling is people who want comments should reward the people who take the time and trouble to make comments. What I think is unfair is when people openly ask for comments about a blog post but do not give a link back to the commenter.
Again thank you for installing this plug-in.
